Conservation
We are working with Cape Nature and have established a conservancy, the Tweekuylen Conservancy, bringing farmers in our area together to set aside some land that will not be tilled, to conserve the unique renosterveld of this area. Take a walk through this undisturbed veld, keep a look out for our resident buck and maybe you’ll be lucky to see the porcupines that have been on our farm for decades.
We are a member of WWF's Biodiversity and Wine Inisiative (BWI). With their help we have set aside our wetlands, an area greater than our 43 hectares of vineyards, for conservation. Wetlands are vitally important for the functioning of our invironment, slowing down the run-off of water during our rainy season so that it drains into and is retained in the ground, rather than washing away the vital topsoil. For more information on BWI, see their website www.bwi.co.za
